2019 INTERNATIONAL BLUES CHALLENGE

Friends and fans! We’re so happy to announce that our recent trip to Memphis to compete in the 35th International Blues Challenge was a great success! Out of 101 acts, we were in the top 8 that made it to the final round at the Orpheum Theatre where Gabe was named the winner of the prestigious Gibson Guitar Award!

We'd like to send out a huge thank you to all those who contributed to our “Back 2 Beale” fundraising campaign which helped cover many of our major expenses on this adventure to Memphis. This experience of a lifetime and the accolades we received would not have been possible without your contribution!

You can find videos of our performances at the IBC in the “Press Resources” section of this website as well as on our Facebook page. We hope you dig it and share with your friends! More photos and video are sure to come soon!

In conclusion, here is a personal note from Gabe in response to being named the winner of the Gibson Award:

“I’m honored by this award and grateful for this recognition from the Blues Foundation!

I chose to dedicate my life to the guitar years ago as a student at the Uptown Music Collective and at Berklee College of Music. I’m extremely thankful for the opportunity I’ve had to study with true masters of this craft during that time. After hours and hours of practice and performance this award is truly (please excuse the cliche) a dream come true!

But, all those hours are just practice without my band. Colin Beatty, who has had my back from the minute I got home from college. Jesse Roedts, who contributes great energy and power into this band. And Shane “The Hurricane” Sager, my man from Boston, who brings a new dimension to our sound. There is no “guitar solo” without these guys! I share this award with them!

A special thank you must go out to Jared Mondell for being with us on this journey! Jared’s the man behind the camera and our eyes and ears on social media making sure our friends and fans back home could be along for the ride.

I want to thank the Billtown Blues Association and Bonnie Tallman for their friendship and support. You will always be my blues family. I love you and share this award with you!

Thanks also to our fans, who keep showing up, shouting out, and “liking and sharing.” We will see you all soon!”

The Gabe Stillman Band

Dear Friends and Fans,

I’m happy to announce some very exciting news!  We have offically changed the name of the band from "Gabe Stillman and The Billtown Giants" to"The Gabe Stillman Band."

I’m very proud of the name "The Billtown Giants." It has been a huge part of my growth as an artist, and I will always look back at these years with warm affection for the music that was created by all of the people who have participated in this band. However, through the various lineup changes over the past year, I can't deny that we sound different, perform differently, and function differently as a band. I don’t feel the same, artistically, as I did when this all got started 3 years ago. Colin, Jesse, and I will still be bringing you the same #HardStompinBlues attitude every time we hit the stage!

Coming up at the end of March, we are excited to be once again competing at the Billtown Blues Festival Audition Concert for the opportunity to open the 29th Annual Billtown Blues Festival and have the great honor of representing the Billtown Blues Association at the 2019 International Blues Challenge. We hope to see you at the concert on Saturday, March 24th, 2018 at the Genetti Hotel!

Also, in 2018, we will be releasing our first official CD! You will finally be able to take our music home with you! For the last couple years, at almost every show, I get asked the questions “Do you guys have a CD?” and “Where can I listen to your music?”, and I’ve always had to reply with a disappointing “SOON." I never intended for you folks to have to wait this long, but because of our busy gig schedule and also my desire to find the right people to collaborate with on a recording I could be truly proud of, the project has been on hold until this year. I commend you for your patience and I can’t wait for you to hear what we’ve got in store!! You can expect to hear some samples from my first record this spring.

As always, thank you all so much for your love and support as we continue to grow! It means everything to me when I look out at a crowd of people dancing and singing along at our shows. Words cannot describe how much joy you folks bring to me and the band. We look forward to seeing you again soon and sharing our new music with you! - Gabe
